When the homeowners outgrew their existing home, they chose to expand it rather than move — a decision that required careful coordination between new construction and the existing structure. Varian Construction designed and built a substantial addition that doubled the home's footprint while maintaining architectural continuity throughout.
The new wing added a family room, an expanded dining room, and a dramatic front entry. The addition also added a separate living space (yet attached) for aging parents, including a separate attached garage, living room, kitchen, bedroom and handicap access bathroom. Perfect for offering grandparents privacy, safety, and independence, yet living with family all under one roof.
Every transition between old and new was resolved with matching millwork profiles and consistent material selections, making the addition feel like it was always there.
